Girls Win and London Futures Unwind In Hyde Park

On a warm sunny day during the Easter holiday break, we took a group of young people from our Girls Win and London Futures programmes to Hyde Park to have a picnic, play some sports and interact with one another in a relaxed environment away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

As part of the trip we challenged young people from our London Futures programme who are preparing themselves for the world of work, to co-ordinate the travel plan and support some younger members of our Girls Win programme with their journey to Hyde Park.

As the young people arrived in Hyde Park after travelling in from across, we found a great spot of grass overlooking the sparkling Serpentine River. Some of the young people also found an opportunity to go for a walk or a run around the Serpentine with their Coach Mentors, while others took time to rest, enjoy the sunshine and chat together with their friends.

Kwamaine from our London Futures Hackney hub shared: “It was the best trip I have ever been too, and the weather was perfectly bright.”

Once everyone had eaten their lunch and ice-creams, the young people enjoyed a fun game of dodgeball to round off what was a very relaxing and enjoyable day.

As a charity, we love to bring young people from our different programmes together. It provides them with an opportunity to meet new people, make new friends, share new experiences and most importantly of all to have fun.

Freya is a Young Ambassador of our charity and one of our Girls Win programme participants who went on the trip. She shared: “The trip was really fun and it was very good as you get to meet new friends. I liked the fact that I walked a lot. I had a lovely time. It was a nice day.”

Lauren is also part of our Girls Win programme and was able to join us with her sister Abbie. Lauren  shared: “Me and my sister enjoyed the Hyde Park trip because we could just relax and play with the different equipment everyone brought with them. The staff joined in as well and it was great fun and would 100% go again. Thank you for all the staff that came and made it a great day out.”

Our Coach Mentors are incredible as organising trips such as this one. As summer approaches we look forward to seeing more of our young people explore new places and experience new challenges  in a fun and engaging environment.

Our Programme Manager and lead for our Girls Win programme, Elle shared: “It is always a privilege to be able to design and deliver a day out for our young people over the Easter break. My incredible colleagues on the day brought high energy and positive vibes, which enabled the participants on both our Girls Win and London Futures programmes, to have a fun-filled day of sport, socialising and ice-cream. I look forward to planning our next days out with the team and giving more opportunities to our young people.”
