Annual TCF Golf Day Success

This month we celebrated our TCF Golf Day at the illustrious Foxhills Country Club – Golf Course and Resort in Surrey. The annual fundraising event brought together the golfing community from across our charity’s network for an unforgettable day of competition and celebration.

We were incredibly fortunate to partner with New World Tech (NWT) for our event this year. Glenn Ballard CEO of NWT and has been an ambassador of our charity for the past 10 years.

Glenn shared: “I thought the event was the most amazing TCF golf day yet. Supporting such an amazing cause is something we at New World Tech are really proud of and I can’t wait until next year.”

The day was a scorcher with temperatures reaching over 28 degrees. Fortunately, there were TCF staff members on hand to drive around the course throughout the day with cold refreshments for the 70+ golfers taking part.

Although everyone gave it their best shot, one of the United Business Group representative teams, captained by David Adams came away with the Graeme Porteous trophy and a magnum of wine each, generously donated by our TCF ambassador Charlie Waud or Waud Wines, after being crowned TCF Golf Day 2022 winners.

As well as providing wine for the prize winners, Charlie also supported the event with his fantastic wine tasting with selected rose, white and red wine, paired with the evening food which took place on the rooftop deck overlooking the shared 18th greens.

Charles shared: “Being able to support the event this year and last year has been incredible, it’s such an important charity and it’s wonderful to be able to support them. I am honoured and proud to be a TCF ambassador and see the charity grow year by year”

As well as the award ceremony, entertainment throughout the day included a beat-the-pro hole, a win-a-car hole in one hole and a silent and live auction. We were incredibly fortunate to have an array of generous pries donated to the auction which varied from signed shirts by rugby legend Bryan Habana and 2020 British Masters Champion Tyrell Hatton, to a golfing weekend for two in New York City and VIP members tickets to Henley Regatta.

The auction was hosted by a charity friend and supporter, Peter Scrivener (Scrivs) former Wasps RFC player and current Trustee of the Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation. Having worked closely with  Scrivs on a variety of events over the past three years and as well as being the main grant recipient of the Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation for our V.I Rugby programme across the UK, we knew what value Scrivs could bring to the event and make the evening fundraising a huge success.

Scrivs shared: “Wasps Legends have donated £50,000 to help launch the VI Rugby programme and hopefully we work together for many years to come. Thank you, TCF for having me join this amazing event.”

All funds raised from the golf day and the auction will be going towards all of our charity programmes including the VI Rugby programme and our recently launched Ukraine Refugee Sports Project.

We would like to thank each and every person that helped to make the TCF Golf Day a success and give a special thank you to the TCF Golf Day committee members, Glenn Ballard, Iain Kennedy and Matthew Gunn for all their support, for making the day possible.

Lastly, we would like to thank Alex Bassan (Bassie) TCF’s Head of Business Development and all of the TCF staff who supported the event for making it such a memorable one.

Bassie shared: “I am very proud of the charity and all our staff who pulled together to make it such a memorable day. There are lots of moving parts to a golf day, but we all pulled together to make sure we not only made the day as fun for our guests as possible but also raise the all-important funds needed to continue our life-changing work.’

“I would like to personally thank our committee members, sponsors, hole sponsors, prize/auction prize donors, on-course entertainers and guests for making the day possible.”

We would like to wish a special thanks to…
