Fencing 4 Change
Families report improved social engagement, independence and self-esteem.
Aim & Who
Fencing 4 Change supports young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) aged 8–18, using fencing to improve motor and social skills.
Why it’s needed
Research shows up to 1 in 100 children in the UK have ASD, and many struggle to access group activities that accommodate their learning needs. Young people share, “other sports don’t make me feel connected, but fencing gives everything I need, it’s just different.”
Impact
Through fencing, participants develop coordination, patience, social skills and confidence. The supportive, structured environment allows them to thrive at their own pace. Families report improved social engagement, independence and self-esteem. Young people leave feeling empowered, capable and included.
