On Drive – India
The programme builds confidence, economic independence and community leadership.
Aim & Who
On Drive is a cricket and leadership programme supporting women aged 18+ living in poverty in rural India. Delivered in partnership with local NGO Magic Bus, it identifies emerging female leaders and equips them with cricket training, leadership development, mentoring and work experience to become agents of change within their communities.
Why it’s needed
In rural India, women face significant barriers to education, employment and leadership opportunities. Many participants tell us, “Women here are not expected to lead.” Limited access to resources, alongside social and environmental challenges, restricts opportunities for independence and community development.
Impact
Participants design and deliver their own social action projects, including improving transport access to hospitals, launching small businesses, increasing recycling and creating after-school clubs. The programme builds confidence, economic independence and community leadership. Through initiatives like annual Street20 tournaments, it also strengthens community cohesion. On Drive is creating a generation of women who are not only changing their own futures, but transforming the environments they live in.
