The Change Foundation – International Women’s Day
To celebrate International Women’s Day, The Change Foundation are holding our first International Women’s Day event aimed at schools girls aged 15-18 from Lambeth and the surround boroughs on Tuesday 6th March 2018.
This will be a full day event held at the Black Prince Trust Community Hub in Vauxhall. The theme of the day plays off of the question and phrase, “Can you remember my name?”.
Often young women, especially those from marginalised backgrounds become invisible at school, within society and even within their family homes. Through our International Womens Day event, we want to inspire these young women to become confident in themselves, their backgrounds and their story, by providing representation of inspirational women and femme identifying people from different backgrounds, industries and professions to allow these girls to see not only their own potential but also the wide range of careers and industries that they can work in, regardless of their background.
The day will consist of:
A Twerkshop led by Kelechi Okafor.
A panel talk with inspirational women who have overcome adversity and are flourishing in their respective industries.
A speed mentoring session with over 70 women who have volunteered their time to meet the students.
Poetry set by the talented Dylema and Liz Ward.
We would like to fundraise £2000 to cover the cost of a goodie bag for each girl, a cooked lunch, to pay our wonderful panelist’s and to cover the costs involved in running the event.
We welcome any donation; no matter how big or how small.
£8 will cover the cost for Lunch for 1 young woman
£10 will cover the costs of a goodie bag.
£20 will cover the costs of the full day workshop for 1 young woman.
