Team Habana in the Isle of Man
Before travelling over to Japan for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Bryan Habana took in a weekend on the Isle of Man, famous for cats with no tails and motorcycle racing. The purpose of the visit was to raise money for the Bryan Habana Foundation, Rebecca House hospice, and also support the growth of rugby on the Isle of Man.
We were delighted to join him for a small part of the trip, promoting Team Habana, our youth leadership programme that uses the values of rugby to increase young people’s confidence and competence in a range of leadership behaviours for them to fully discover their leadership potential. Director of Design and Impact, Navjeet Sira, joined Women and Girls Programme Manager Maddy Ford, and Nike Ambassador Sarah Coomson, both Team Habana graduates to assist Bryan with his fundraising activities.
Bryan met lots of fans, young and old at various events over the weekend, organised by N7 Sports Events. He ran a rugby training session and was his usual delightful self, whilst raising important funds for Team Habana, now heading into its 4th year in London.
After a wonderful weekend Bryan headed off to Japan, and while it was heartbreak for England, there were celebrations all round for Bryan and South Africa as they won the Rugby World Cup for the 3rd time.
