Nav, Shedaine, Carol, Tanya, Maddy and Claire attended the 7th IWG (International Working Group) World Conference on Women and Sport in Gaborone, Botswana. The IWG World Conferences on Women and Sport are milestone events, which every four years focus global attention on specific goals and action steps aimed at offering men and women equal opportunities in the sport arena. The economic, social and cultural impact of the many hundreds of delegates representing nations from all continents is significant and has resulted in concrete benefits for the previous host countries.

The four day conference focussed on the following themes:

  1. Being well to play well
  2. Safe space: Protecting Women in Sport
  3. Tell Their Story: Leveraging Media to Advocate for Women’s Sport
  4. Welcome and empower all through sport
  5. Sport Without Borders: Cross-Cultural Collaboration
  6. Let Them Lead: Changing the Leadership Landscape of Sports

The Change Foundation team were able to share our sport for social change methodology of working with marginalised girls and young women with a global audience as well as network and engage with other inspiring and innovative organisations from around the world using the power of sport. We look forward to developing our partnerships with these new global colleagues.
