Sport for Development Coalition launch
The Change Foundation were very happy to attend the recent launch of the Sport for Development Coalition as one of its earliest members. Supported by Comic Relief, Sport England and the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, the core purpose of the coalition is to represent the sport for development sector and help to increase its profile and impact. Currently there are approximately 60 organisations involved in its network which have a diverse range of social interests and operate on a regional; England-wide; UK and/or international scale. The Sport for Development Coalition is keen to play its part in using the power of sport to achieve social good through working collaboratively on a limited number of projects that will make a difference in the sector. It’s three strategic goals are:
– Advocacy – showcasing the sector.
– Impact – demonstrating the sector’s impact and making the case for investment.
– Investment – securing new funds for the sector.
TCF Director of Design and Impact Navjeet Sira said the following about the event:
“It was fantastic to see so many like minded individuals around the room in a moment of time that will be remembered as the official launch of a coalition that represents our work. That was inspiring. From here, for real advocacy, to convince people to invest and to truly talk impact we need radical thoughts involving more young people.”
