Netball in the News

July was a huge month for Netball 4 Change, with festivals in Newcastle, a celebrity popping into a session in London, and a visit to the Netball World Cup in Liverpool!  Read on to find out more.

Love Island meets Netball 4 Change

The month started with Comic Relief attending one of our sessions in London. With the Netball World Cup starting on 12 July, they wanted to film the programme in action, in order to be shown during a celebrity netball match on 19th July.  The match is raising funds for Sport Relief, who fund the programme in London. They brought with them, former Love Island contestant and Instagram influencer Montana Brown, and she wowed the girls, sharing her experiences with social media and her love of netball as a former semi professional player. It was a great session and you can see the film at the top of the newsletter.

Netball 4 Change Newcastle Festival

N4C Newcastle ended this school year with an amazing festival. The girls took part in a netball tournament representing the different countries taking part in the upcoming Netball World Cup. England were triumphant on the day, which we all hoped was an omen. Well done to our amazing Newcastle partners the Hat-Trick Project for keeping N4C Newcastle going strong!

Netball World Cup Sports Relief – All-Star Celebrity Match

The Netball 4 Change team got the chance to go and watch some of the World Cup, taking place in Liverpool, including Uganda vs Malawi, ahead of the big Sport Relief All-Star match on 20th July. You can watch the game back here but we won’t spoil the surprise for you.  We were delighted that so many people got to learn, not only about Netball 4 Change, but also London Futures, another Sport Relief funded programme, during the match. In the World Cup, England were not quite able to make it onto the top step, eventually finishing 3rd, but it was a wonderful tournament and we can’t wait for the next one.
