Laureus World Sports Awards

We were very lucky to be able to attend the Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco on Monday 18th February as guests of Mercedes-Benz. It was a celebrity-filled, glamorous event celebrating the best of sport in 2018 across eight individual and team categories, with the winners collecting a prized Laureus Statuette.

In addition to celebrating sporting excellence, the awards provided a global platform for supporting the Laureus Sport for Good movement, by showcasing the incredible work done to transform young lives around the world, work such as The Change Foundation’s Netball 4 Change programme.

Women and Girls’ Programme Manager Maddy, who attended on behalf of The Change Foundation was particularly inspired by Henrieta Farkasova, the Slovak alpine skier who is a nine-time Paralympic champion and won the award for ‘Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability’. “She was incredible. She is fearless even though she travels so fast with only 2 or 3 metres of vision. It made me wish that the young women on Girls Win programme could meet her and hear about her level of skill and talent.”
