House of Sport Themed Briefing
House of Sport is a co-working space in the heart of London with a selection of offices, desks, meeting rooms and event space available for charities dedicated to sport and physical activity. They count organisations such as London Marathon Events, London Sport, Sported and Disability Sports Coach among their number. Each month they host a Themed Briefing, which offers a valuable opportunity to hear from a wide variety of from external organisations sharing insight and knowledge from their area of expertise.
On Wednesday 12th June, as part of the theme of Physical Activity for Social Integration, two of our young coach mentors, Ryan Jones and Daniel Mynott, delivered a presentation about our London Futures employability programme for young Londoners with learning disabilities and mental health problems. They shared about the history of the charity, their own personal stories coming through TCF disability programmes, as well as the successes and learnings from the London Futures programme so far. It was a fantastic chance to speak to other people in the sector and show our unique and engaging form of presenting that is so popular with our young people and partners alike.
House of Sport host Abigail had this to say about our visit:
Thank you again for visiting House of Sport today to present at our Themed Briefing on Sport and Physical Activity for Social Integration!
It was fantastic to hear about the brilliant work your London Futures programme is doing, and also your inspiring stories of how you both got involved with The Change Foundation. I’ve had some great feedback from the attendees already – we all work in the same area as you of sport for development, so we love to hear stories such as yours that prove that all the effort is worthwhile! In particular, everyone loved the audience participation with the questions and red/green cards. I’ve been working here for nearly a year now and you are the first people to do anything like that for a themed briefing, it was really engaging and helped reinforce your message hugely.
