Girls Win Summer Club
The beautiful weather that graced us with its presence at the end of August happily coincided with our inaugural Girls Win Summer Club. It is fairly common for us to have some form of Summer festival tied in with our disability work but this year marks the first of what we are keen to make an annual Health & Well-Being Summer Club for girls and young women.
The young women took part in arts & crafts, created their own smoothies, had their hair and nails done and took part in a blind fruit & veg tasting session. This, of course, coupled with a wide range of sports, including having a go at Golf in the Park with Community Golf. There was also some unexpected excitement when an air ambulance had to land at the cricket centre. The paramedics on board kindly let the Girls Win club join them and ask questions.
It is an incredibly important part of the bonding process for our young people to stay in touch with each other and our coach mentors through the long Summer break and gives us a great chance to try out new games, gauging the reaction of the young people to see if we should integrate them throughout our programmes.
