Fundraising through Blind Golf
Mid July saw us take on a day of joint fundraising with Wasps Legends at Brocket Hall Golf Club in Hertfordshire. Brocket Hall is one of England’s finest stately homes and plays host to two Championship standard golf courses. We were humbled to be able to use such a prestigious venue, gifted to both charities by Alpha Rewards with a grand prize of an all expenses golf trip to Las Vegas. There were 18 teams, 9 playing for The Change Foundation and 9 playing for the Wasps Legends.
On one hole, two of our young coach mentors hosted a Blind Golf Challenge hole to raise awareness of Visually Impaired Rugby. A Par 2 hole, each player played their normal shot over the river and then had to hit a ball while wearing a blind fold, making a donation to take part. It was great to share our story of VI Rugby, including the upcoming tour to Japan to coincide with the 2019 Rugby World Cup. Overall, the day was a great success, with everyone enjoying the wonderful surroundings and Wasps Legends narrowly coming out victorious. The event raised important funds, awareness and we made new charity friendships.
